The “Austin’s Butterfly” video (6 mins) is an inspiring example of how peer-to-peer feedback can impact on learning outcomes. I love the way the children respectfully give specific suggestions to dramatically improve the drawing, and the way it makes the point that re-drafting is worth it.
If you haven’t watched this before, I strongly recommend it.
I once visited a primary school which had used this video as a central element of their learning ethos. There were Austin’s Butterfly displays in the hall and the children frequently referred to the approach – it had changed the way they viewed themselves as learners.
