I was thrilled to hear about this.
I have been helping this child’s school to introduce regular P4C sessions. At a CPD event I asked the teachers whether they had any successes to share since the last Twilight two weeks ago.
Katy, Key Stage 1 teacher, reported that she’d asked her class whether they thought they’d listened well during a P4C enquiry. A child answered, ‘Yes, we were good listeners - we listened to the teacher.’ One of her peers immediately challenged her: ‘We didn’t listen to the teacher! We listened to each other!’
Yippee! Pupil-to-pupil listening - the first step to high quality dialogue.
